People & Population of Dubai

The Dubai population continues to grow at a rapid pace. Everyday in newspapers, there are several advertisements concerning the planning department of each country. That planning department’s main focus has always been the increasing population of each country. The census of Dubai revealed some interesting facts.

The unstoppable number of expatriates has forced Dubai’s government to undertake the population census from December 2005 to March 2006. As such, UAE population was estimated to be around 4.3 millions in 2005 with an included estimate of over 3 million of foreign population. With its extreme diverse population in the Middle East, it became inevitable to have a census of the Middle East king- Dubai.

The census was undertaken in two parts:

The first clause suggested the business classes keep an eye over all type of business centers and flats.

The second part of the census of December 2005 included the families and individual, both in whole of Dubai.

This census was a detailed survey to distinguish the population of Immigrants as well as the real populis. Door-to-door investigations were done about the members and each person was listed under different categories including emigrant, business, citizen, visitor and so on.

The population was then estimated of about 3.45 million in total, including all classes of the population. The breakup was provided according to the states and the emirates residing there.

The division of population is listed as follows:

Abu Dhabi 1500000
Dubai 1190000
UAQ 50000
Sharjah 600000
Ajman 250000
Fujeiriah 160000
RAK 200000

However, you will be amazed to know that the society entails 70% male populations and the rest is female. Hence, the male-female ratio widely varies. However, life expectancy ratio in men is less than females. On one hand the expected years of life expectancy in females is 77.87, on the other hand it just limits to 72.73 years among men. Apart from these, Dubai fertility rate is 2.9 children born per women. One more interesting fact that amuses people is that women in Dubai has higher education ratio as compared to men. The literacy levels leads at 81.7% among females leaving the male ratio at 76.1%.

Being the major part of population being Muslim, other religions also have a minority say in the whole population. The secular front of Dubai provides it to have rich culture and enjoys variability if its festivals and cultures. Population can be parted in various ethnic groups South Asians securing 50%, Emirati holding 19%, other Arab and Iranian grabbing their 23% and other westerners and East Asianers clinging to their 8%. Moreover, the leading religion followed by most of the Dubai people tends to Islam with a 96% share, though other religions like Hindu, Christianity and other occupies the remaining 4% of the entire population.

Dubai is as such the perfect example to show humanity in disparity.

With over many languages including Arabic being official and others like English, Persian, Hindi and Urdu it is a treasure of many cultures within itself. Hence, we can say that being so vast it is still one city-Dubai
